Welcome to Pejah Braiding, where your care and satisfaction are what matter most. Innovative hair-braiding is our speciality, and we offer a variety of styles based on individual tastes and the condition of your hair. We look forward to serving you.
Formerly known as Yaya Hair Braids, Pejah Salon was born from a long, family tradition of hair-braiding. Our principal stylist, Nicole “Yaya” Begouin, knew by the age of 12 that she was destined to be a stylist. Her mother introduced her to the magic of the process: how to hold the comb, the correct way to comb a client’s hair, how to assess and diagnose the health of each client’s scalp, how to properly wash hair and sterilize her tools, and, of course, how to braid, dread and sew.
After years of watching her mother’s meticulous hair care for family and friends, Yaya began to develop the beauty and mastery that her mother possessed. Her process was a labor of love. Yaya’s mother encouraged her to develop her craft. She would often say, “Ma Petit Cherie, within the work you do, there is a jewel hiding below the surface, and there is only one way to discover it: practice mindlessly. You must polish and polish, as though with one's heart.”
In June 2015, Yaya felt the call to uproot her beloved 138 salon and relocate to Old Town Conyers, a then little-known section of Conyers, GA. She sought a private, calming salon experience removed from the hustle and bustle of typical braiding salons, and found it in Old Town Conyers. There, she opened Pejah Braiding, a salon where clients can relax as they completely transform their look. Over a period of two years, the space has been completely restored. Yaya has worked to create a modern salon that maintains the unique 1920"s craftsman look and feel, and gives clients the most comfortable and calming experience possible.
